Bolero caused a sensation at the 2008 North American Alpaca Show - one of the largest shows in the country - when he was exhibited for the first time at nearly 12 years of age! Taking the blue under judge Mike Safely, over some of the toughest competition ever seen in the mature male class, Bolero was cheered to his win by an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, many of whom we had never met. Thank you, one and all!
Blue ribbon winner-at nearly 12 years old!
11th shearing - Amazing fiber!
"You don't often see males this age in the showring, and you don't see them with fleece like this!" Mike Safely, AOBA Senior Judge April 2008
"I've hauled some of the best older males in the business all over the country, and none of them had a fleece anywhere near as nice as this!" Jim Cocking, Low Stress Alpaca Transport & Kentucky Criations May 2008
"Grade 2 secondaries AND primaries (aka 'Baby'), with crimp in the primaries similar to the secondaries." He also got high scores for crimp, density, brightness, and handle. "What a pretty, pretty fleece! I've got to see this male!" Carrie Hull, certified fiber sorter/grader May 12, 2009
When first evaluating a fiber sample from Bolero's 11th fleece, Carol Karsten of Hidden Hill Farm Alpacas asked, "What cria isthis from?" Carol is a nationally known breeder of high-end alpacas including Hidden Hill Peruvian Dually, Champion White Male Huacaya at the 2009 Futurity! We are honored that Carol has reserved four breedings to Bolero.
Maple Brook Bolero is the son of one of the top males ever brought into the US - Peruvian Bueno. Bueno has become a living legend with too many Champion offspring and Get-of-Sire wins to count. Best of all, he brings incredible fineness, desireable high-frequency well defined crimp, and a silky 'hand' or feel to his offspring. Now at least 18 years of age, we are honored to own what we believe to be one of the very best sons of the incomparable Bueno. And we are delighted to share him with you.
At 18 years of age, Bueno is no settling all females. If you always wanted to breed to Bueno, consider Bolero!

Buneo winning at the first Futurity.
Few breeders today remember that Bueno won the first ever alpaca Futurity held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1993. The show was judged by 'Don' Julio Barreda, the famous alpaca breeder from the Accoyo Estancia in Peru.

Full brother - Maple Brook Nomar.
Maple Brook Nomar was exported to Germany a couple years ago. The German alpaca registry requires every alpaca to pass a rigorous screening process, with especially high standards for breeding males. Nomar 's score was an amazing 98 out of 100 possible points - at age 12! Congratulations, Nomar!
